The Division of Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery at UCSF is comprised of the sectiosn of Cardiac Surgery and General Thoracic Surgery, and the Heart and Lung Transplant Program. Our Heart & Lung Transplant program, directed by Charles Hoopes, M.D., was recently highlighted as our 1 year survival outcomes in 2007 were better than expected when ranked against other academic institutions nationally. In 2009, the Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery inpatient team had the highest score of any other surgical specialty at UCSF, 83% higher than the UHC Peer group (Press Ganey).
